The Queen Kingfisher by Luke Buck

For some reason the kingfisher has always been one of my favorite birds. Maybe it's because when I was a kid, back in the 1940's, I seen my first kingfisher at my Grandparents cabin on Greybrook Lake, in Owen
County, Indiana, where we spent many a summer vacation. At that time I thought it was a very exciting and active bird, with its feathers all ruffled up, and plunging head first into the water,, just like me. The color was a striking blue and its bossy chatter made it known long before it perched. A little older now, I still live on a lake, and still enjoy the pleasures the kingfisher brings,,, plus it's fun to paint.
