This painting is one of a set of four I did of barns that display advertisements. (Painted Barns) I also illustrated each barn in a different season to make the collection even more appealing. The painted barns have been one of my favorite subjects to paint as they represent a time in our history of a new type of advertising with the rapid growth of automobile travel and many new roadways. Normally the advertiser would paint the farmers barns at no charge in trade to display the advertising of their products. They always make such an interesting challenge for artist with varied barn designs and landscape compositions. This one is still there, and well maintained, along Highway 67 a little North of Spencer, Indiana. - Luke Buck
