Blue Highway Ads - Mail Pouch Tobacco by Luke Buck
Original, 8" X 8", Watercolor/Gouache Painting, by Luke Buck
Framed size: 13"x13". Protected with Museum Glass.
With the rapid growth of American highways, painted barns were a rage during the 1920's and even through the 50's, as a source of advertising for many products, especially with the tobacco industry. Although they äre vanishing fast, you can still find one of these historical jewels älong the blue highways in America. I have always found these landmarks as being one of my favorite painting subjects because not only the historic significance, but they usually have such an interesting setting and compositional challenges to paint.
This one is still there, along Highway 56, just a little South of French Lick, Indiana
